Picking the Right Apartment

It's important to do your research when searching for a place to live, but sometimes it can be hard to know where to start! Here are a few things you’ll want to know about your apartment in Salt Lake City before you consider signing a lease.

Furnished or Unfurnished

Some apartment communities offer the option of renting a furnished apartment so you don’t have to bring your own bed, couches, tables, etc. Furnished apartments can save you the hassle of moving your furniture or buying new furniture, but they can also come with a higher price tag. You’ll want to keep in mind that personalizing your living space might be limited compared to an unfurnished apartment where you have more freedom to add your personal touch.

At Ascent at Marmalade we don’t offer furnished apartments because we want you to make your home completely your own. Whether you need a cat tower or a crib, you don’t have to worry about squeezing around generic furniture.

Apartment Amenities

A big differentiator when searching for an apartment in Salt Lake is its amenities! Consider whether you’ll have an in-unit washer and dryer, appliances, and storage space.

At Ascent at Marmalade we have several floorplans for you to choose from featuring beautifully renovated units, a washer and dryer, ceiling fans, and built-in storage. 

Pet Policy

Whether or not you have pets it's important to know if pets are allowed in the community you are living in. Some properties only allow certain breeds and sizes of pets, some require pet rent or a pet deposit, and some do not allow pets at all.

Pets are welcome at Ascent at Marmalade upon approval! Breed restrictions do apply. Limit of 2 pets per home. Monthly pet rent of $40 will be charged. A pet agreement on file is required.


When touring an apartment, you’ll want to see if they offer off-street parking, covered parking, or a parking garage. You also will want to know if parking passes are required and monitored.

We have assigned parking at Ascent so you’ll never have to worry about finding a spot!

When it comes to apartment hunting, amenities can make a world of difference in finding the perfect home! Not all apartments have the same amenities, and usually the nicer the amenities the higher the rent. Consider which amenities are important to you when touring different apartments.

Lease Terms

A rental agreement for an apartment is a legally binding contract between the landlord and the tenant that details the rules and conditions of renting the apartment. This includes information like the length of the lease, rent amount, security deposit, and the rules that must be followed while living in the apartment. No matter where you live in Salt Lake City, make sure you read and understand all the terms of your lease before signing!
